On the night of March 25, 1971, the Pakistan Army initiated genocide across the city of Dhaka through Operation Searchlight. They attacked the University of Dhaka, Peelkhana-East Pakistan Rifles Headquarters and Rajarbagh Police Line simultaneously. The Bengali policemen of the Rajarbagh police line tried to counter the barbaric attack of the Pakistan army with their limited weapons; however, countless police officers died there.
Mohammad Nurul Islam was a young policeman, working in Rajarbagh during that time. The fear of the people fighting for life against the brutal and horrific operation of Pakistan Army of that night has come up in the testimony of Nurul Islam who is now retired.
